Research and evidence
This is the ground work that informs our sustainability strategy.
Materiality Assessment
In 2019, we conducted a Materiality Assessment which reviewed our environmental, social and governance risks. The process involved identifying potential risks and testing their relative importance with our internal and external stakeholders.
Not surprisingly, environmental and social issues both rated ‘highly important’ to both stakeholder groups. These findings have helped inform our approach to our purpose ‘Changing Lives, Together’ as well as our internal processes.
Carbon Footprint
We've also assessed and calculated our carbon footprint in Australia and New Zealand, helping us identify where to focus our climate change efforts and how we can have the greatest impact in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Along the way we gathered amazing feedback from many of our staff (also known as Nandocas), suppliers and stakeholders who shared their desire and support for positive change. We’ve since set ambitious targets to reduce our environmental impact by 2030, with our overarching goal to halve the impact of a Nando’s meal.
